Russian Guard specialization in Broken Arrow — the new Russia doctrine (DLC): everything we know

The Russian Guard (Rosgvardia) specialization was revealed at Slitherine Next as a new Russia doctrine for Broken Arrow — elite infantry, fire support, AA and reserves. Here's what's confirmed, when it arrives, and how it will fit your decks.

What is the Russian Guard specialization?

The Russian Guard (Rosgvardia) is a new specialization — a sixth doctrine for the Russian faction — revealed by Steel Balalaika and Slitherine during the July Slitherine Next event. Like every specialization, it is one of the two doctrines you pick when building a Battle Group, and it unlocks its own pool of unit cards and category point limits.

It is a paid DLC specialization, in the same slot family as the Baltic Battalion DLC on the USA side. Once released it will give Russia a tenth two-doctrine combination options across the roster.

What was revealed

According to the official announcement, the Russian Guard brings together elite infantry units, powerful fire support, dedicated anti-air (AA) systems and reserve formations. That points to an infantry-forward, self-sufficient doctrine that can hold ground and cover its own airspace rather than a pure armor or air specialization.

Exact unit names, cards and point costs were not detailed at announcement. We are not going to invent them — this page lists only what has been confirmed and will be updated the moment the real data is live.

When does it release?

The announcement dated it to "later this summer." As of the latest game build it is not yet in the game: the current patch (1.1.2) ships engine, model and Spectator-mode changes, but the Guard specialization and its units are not present in the client or in the live unit data yet.

In Broken Arrow, unit and specialization data is served from the developers' backend, not baked into the game files — so the Guard's cards and stats will appear for everyone the moment the studio switches them on, likely alongside the DLC's store release.

How it will fit your decks

Because a Battle Group always mixes two doctrines, the Guard's value will come from pairings. An infantry-plus-AA doctrine pairs naturally with an armor doctrine (Guard Tank) for a heavy line, or with VDV / Motorized for a mobile infantry core with its own air cover.

Until it drops, the closest playstyles on the current roster are infantry-heavy Motorized or Mechanized builds backed by strong support and AA. Browse our Russia decks and the tier list to prep, and check back here — we'll add the Guard cards, costs and sample decks as soon as they go live.
